Is presented to young Canadians
who have achieved a set standard in community service
and self-improvement. It is a program of activities designed to challenge Canadian youth to
become involved in worthwhile extracurricular activities, leading to personal growth,
development and achievement.
Participating in the Awards Program done on a volunteer basis, builds character by developing
such quatlites as self-confidence, effort, responsibility and compassion and self-reliance.
As a result, our young people become more responsible citizens in our society.
THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S INTERNATIONAL AWARD – CANADA – NOVA SCOTIA
is a non-competitive programme designed to encourage young people ages 14 to 24 to develop positive life-long skills and habits. A concept of individual challenge, The Award is a programme of voluntary activities which encourage personal discovery, growth, self-reliance, perseverance and responsibility.
